If you are interested in helping plan events for "Fall Fest In Minnesota 2008" at the ICC Annual Business Conference in Minneapolis, please visit Fall Fest 2008 website for information and a sign up form. The planning committee is seeking involvement from all Minnesota and Region chapters for various events, including an outdoor event that would include food fare popular by and defined by each chapter represented. It is an opportunity to attend the culmination of the ICC business year and final code development actions by showing the world why we choose to live in the beautiful state of Minnesota.
The Wood Truss Council of America, representing the Structural Building Component Industry (SBCI), recently unveiled upgrades to their Truss Technology Workshop (TTW) website at ttw.sbcindustry.com. The TTW website offers online courses on component construction that would be of particular interest to construction industry professionals such as code officials, building inspectors, architects and contractors. The TTW sessions are multimedia presentations focusing on key issues dealing with roof trusses, floor trusses, wall panels and component construction that can be viewed online for free. Also included are two new TTW offerings on the IBC/IRC and the Overview of Building Component Safety Information (BCSI). Certification and continuing education credits can be earned by purchasing and completing a quiz for each selected course.
AMBO is pleased to have formed a cooperative relationship with the WTCA to be able to offer access to these specialty workshops. As the structural component industry becomes more specialized, it is imperative that the construction industry professionals keep abreast of changing requirements of the IBC and IRC as they apply to SBCI components.
“We hope that this offering of all the education we could pull together really helps the construction industry move forward in the understanding and use of structural building components,” said Ken Cloyd, President/CEO of California Truss Company in Perris, CA, and WTCA Marketing Committee Chair. “We believe that this improved education will bring together the design community and the structural building components industry to better the overall knowledge of how to more efficiently and economically build stronger houses for the future.”
